Shayne McGregor is an Associate Professor (Climate) at Monash University's School of Earth, Atmosphere and Environment. His research focuses on understanding climate variability and change in the Australasian region, particularly El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) dynamics, tropical Pacific decadal variability (TPDV), and sea level changes. He holds a PhD and has held postdoctoral positions at the University of New South Wales and University of Hawaii at Manoa.
Current research interests include climate modeling, paleoclimate reconstructions, and pan-tropical interactions. He teaches courses on climate science (EAE2111) and future climate projections (EAE3132).
Active in collaborative projects like the ARC Centre of Excellence for The Weather of the 21st Century (2024-2031) and the National Environmental Science Program Climate Systems Hub (multiple grants since 2020). His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to climate action and sustainable communities.
