Shawnna Jackson is an Assistant Professor of Nursing at Graceland University's School of Nursing. She holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from Graceland University, a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) in Public Health from the University of Missouri, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Graceland University. Her teaching focuses on undergraduate nursing courses such as Capstone Practicum, Community Health Care, and clinical experiences, as well as senior-level courses like Senior Capstone, Current Issues in Healthcare, and Population Health in the RN-BSN program.
Her research and professional interests center on public health, particularly communicable disease management, school health initiatives, and vaccine advocacy. She actively contributes to public health through leadership roles, including serving as the Northwest Regional Representative for the Missouri Immunization Coalition and membership in organizations like the Association of Community Health Nurse Educators and Sigma Theta Tau International.
Prof. Jackson aims to empower nursing students to excel in patient care and community health, emphasizing the nurse’s role within healthcare teams. Her work bridges academic teaching and real-world public health impact, addressing both local and statewide health challenges.
