Dr. Shawn McGrath is a Senior Research Fellow at Charles Sturt University's Gulbali Research Institute within the Faculty of Agricultural, Environmental and Veterinary Sciences. He holds a PhD from Charles Sturt University and a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (Honours 1) from the University of Sydney. His research focuses on livestock production systems, dual-purpose crops, sensor technology applications in agriculture, and animal nutrition optimization.
Research interests center on sustainable farming practices, including livestock-crop integration, feed efficiency measurement technologies, and precision agriculture. His work has led to innovations in lamb feedlotting systems and dual-purpose crop utilization.
McGrath received the 2016 Outstanding Media Coverage and Research Promotion Award and has secured multiple research grants including investigations into interdependent cropping-livestock systems and cattle data utilization. He mentors PhD, Masters, and Honours students while collaborating with industry partners like Meat & Livestock Australia, NSW DPI, and CSIRO.
