- Education: B.S., Johns Hopkins University; M.D. and Ph.D., Washington University School of Medicine
Dr. Tsen specializes in developing photonic technologies to address infectious diseases, cancer, and aging. His work includes ultrashort pulsed laser systems for selective pathogen inactivation, non-invasive cancer imaging, and vaccine production. During his predoctoral research, he pioneered laser-induced vibration techniques for pathogen inactivation, widely covered in media. His postdoctoral work focused on near-infrared fluorescent imaging agents for cancer detection and arthritis monitoring.
His recent publications highlight applications of photonic technologies in targeting annexin A2 for tumor imaging, head-mounted cancer visualization devices, and chemical-free viral/bacterial inactivation. While awards and student mentorship details are not explicitly listed, his research aligns with translational biomedicine and clinical innovation.
