Shaun Scholes is a Principal Research Fellow and Senior Research Fellow in the Department of Epidemiology & Public Health at University College London. He holds extensive experience in social statistics, data management, and analysis of complex health surveys. Previously, he served as an Honorary Research Fellow (2009–2012) and Senior Research Associate (2012–2023) at UCL, leading statistical work on projects like the IMPACT-SEC CHD policy model and the Health Survey for England (HSE). Since May 2023, he leads the English Longitudinal Study of Ageing (ELSA) team, focusing on data integrity, secure data-linkage, and collaboration with global ageing studies.
Shaun holds a PhD and BSc (First Class) in Social Policy from the University of Manchester and an MSc (Distinction) in Social Statistics from the University of Southampton. His expertise spans regression-based techniques, longitudinal data analysis, and statistical training. He actively teaches at UCL’s Institute of Epidemiology and Health Care (IEHC) and supervises PhD students. His research aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-Being).
Shaun’s career includes non-academic roles as a Senior Survey Statistician at the National Centre for Social Research (2003–2009). He is available for collaborative projects, grant applications, and academic supervision. His work emphasizes fostering innovation in data security, interdisciplinary collaboration, and methodological rigor in public health research.
