معرفی
Dr. Shaun Sanders is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology at the University of Guelph, affiliated with the College of Biological Sciences. His research focuses on understanding how palmitoylation regulates protein trafficking and neuronal function, particularly in neurological disorders like Huntington disease and epilepsy. Sanders joined the University of Guelph in June 2020 after postdoctoral work at Temple University and a PhD at the University of British Columbia.
Education:
- BSc in Biology (Cell Biology and Genetics Option), University of British Columbia
- PhD in Neuroscience, University of British Columbia
- Postdoctoral Fellowship at Lewis Katz School of Medicine, Temple University
Research Interests:
- Palmitoylation's role in ion channel targeting and neuronal excitability
- Mechanisms of palmitoylation in neurodegenerative diseases
- Role of ZDHHC enzymes in axon initial segment and node of Ranvier function
Funding & Grants:
- Supported by the Brody Foundation Medical Trust Fund
- Additional grants from unnamed funders (see lab website)
Labs & Teams: The Sanders NeuroPalm Lab is located in the Summerlee Science Complex at the University of Guelph, focusing on collaborative, inclusive research. The lab emphasizes diversity and provides training in cutting-edge molecular and cellular techniques.
