Shaun Kellogg

Shaun Kellogg is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Department of Teacher Education and Learning Sciences at North Carolina State University’s College of Education. He holds roles as Senior Director of the Friday Institute for Educational Innovation and Director of Learning Analytics & Data Science. His expertise lies in leveraging learning analytics to drive evidence-based educational strategies, particularly in STEM education and teacher professional development.

Dr. Kellogg earned a B.A. from the University of Michigan, teaching certification from Michigan State University, a Master’s in Educational Technology from Western Michigan University, and a PhD in Curriculum & Instruction from NC State. His research focuses on data-driven decision making, online learning communities, and program evaluation. He has received prestigious awards including the William C. Friday Doctoral Fellowship and NCCTM Elementary Math Teacher of the Year.

His work includes leading initiatives like the LASER Institute to train scholars in learning analytics, developing NC State’s Learning Analytics Certificate Program, and evaluating programs such as the TutorASSIST tutoring platform and the NC High-Tech Learning Accelerator. He has secured over $10 million in grant funding from NSF, US Department of Education, and state agencies to support educational innovation and equity efforts.

Recent research emphasizes scalable solutions for K-12 education, including leveraging MOOCs for educator training, analyzing peer networks in online courses, and evaluating teacher compensation models.
