Dr. Shashi Ratnaker Singh is a Research Fellow at the Department of Geography, University of Cambridge, and holds the Dr Manmohan Singh Fellowship at St. John’s College. He maintains additional affiliations as a Visiting Fellow on India's Political Economy at King's College London (UK-India Education and Research Initiative), and with the Centre for Public Policy at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences and NTPC School of Business in India.
His interdisciplinary research spans political economy of land/resource development, public policies, environmental law, and indigenous communities. Key focuses include compensation frameworks, mining governance, land tenure systems, displacement justice, and comparative analysis of resource-rich economies across Asia, Africa, and Latin America. His fieldwork encompasses 8+ greenfield projects in Indian mineral regions.
Dr. Singh received the Dr Manmohan Singh Fellowship and contributed to India's landmark 2013 land acquisition legislation as a government policy advisor. He has designed rehabilitation programs for the World Bank, Indian government, and corporations.
