Sharon Pomerantz is a Lecturer at the University of Chicago Creative Writing Program. She is a celebrated author whose debut novel Rich Boy (Twelve, 2010) received the National Jewish Book Award for Debut Fiction and was recognized as a Best Book of the Year by Entertainment Weekly and Booklist. Her short fiction has appeared in prestigious journals like Ploughshares, The Missouri Review, and Michigan Quarterly Review, as well as on NPR’s Selected Shorts program. She has contributed essays and cultural criticism to media outlets including The Forward, The Chicago Tribune, and Time.
Pomerantz has been a fellow at renowned institutions such as the Macdowell Colony, Art OMI, and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. Prior to joining the University of Chicago in 2016, she taught in the writing program at the University of Michigan. Her work spans literary fiction, Jewish-American narratives, and interdisciplinary cultural analysis.
