Sharon Nyree Williams

Sharon Nyree Williams is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Performing Arts and Arts Leadership at Seattle University's College of Arts & Sciences. Her roles extend beyond academia, including serving as Interim Executive Director of Spectrum Dance Theater, co-Chair of the Historic Central Area Arts and Cultural District, and member of the KUOW Board of Directors. She previously led the Central District Forum for Arts & Ideas for a decade and has held positions like Seattle Arts Commissioner.

Education includes an MFA in Arts Leadership from Seattle University, a B.A. in Television Production and an MBA from Delaware State University (Historically Black College and University). Her work spans storytelling, voice-over artistry, and advocacy, with performances across the U.S. and Rwanda. Notable achievements include Emmy and Silver Telly Awards for her voice-over work with the Seattle Kraken, where she produced community tribute videos.

Sharon’s research interests focus on leveraging storytelling for social justice, cultural preservation, and amplifying underrepresented voices. She hosts the podcast Shakin' Shit Up, exploring artist narratives and creative processes. Her community initiatives bridge past and present through projects like Lift Every Voice, honoring the Black National Anthem’s legacy.
