Heath Spencer

Heath Spencer is a Teaching Professor of History at Seattle University, where he has taught since 2002. His expertise spans German History, European History, Holocaust studies, Genocide Studies, and Migration Studies. He holds a faculty position in the Department of History within the College of Arts & Sciences, located on the First Hill campus. Spencer's research and teaching focus on modern Europe, modern Germany, and social and religious history, often linking historical events to contemporary issues like nationalism, economic inequality, and migration.

His teaching portfolio includes courses on the First World War, religion and politics in Nazi Germany, and global migration through the lens of Catholic social teaching. Beyond academia, Spencer and his wife are actively involved with organizations aiding asylum seekers along the U.S.-Mexico border, reflecting his commitment to social justice.
