Sharon Jones is an Associate Professor (Education) in Adult Nursing at the School of Nursing and Midwifery, part of the Faculty of Health at the University of Plymouth. She has been with the institution since 2004, progressing from a Lecturer role to her current academic position. Her teaching focuses on Acute Care, Tissue Viability, Clinical Skills, and Mentorship, engaging both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Sharon maintains clinical practice through an honorary contract in the Orthopaedic Directorate. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she volunteered as an NHS Responder ('call and chat' support) and as a COVID vaccinator with a local GP practice. Her research and professional interests include Leadership in Healthcare Practice and adapting healthcare delivery to societal changes.
Outside academia, Sharon enjoys horse riding, walking with her dogs, and reading.
