Sharon Hayes is a Professor and Chair of Fine Arts at the University of Pennsylvania’s Weitzman School of Design. She holds a dual affiliation with the School of Arts & Sciences and has been teaching since 2015. Her work bridges art, politics, and history, focusing on reinterpreting historical narratives through performance, video, and installation.
Research interests include the intersections of history, politics, and speech, with a focus on political movements from the 1960s–1990s, LGBTQIA advocacy, and feminist activism. Hayes employs collaborative and public-oriented practices to interrogate temporalities and resist normative social agreements.

Her work has been exhibited globally, including the 2024 Whitney Biennial, Venice Biennale (2013), and major institutions like MoMA and the Guggenheim.
No advising or grant details are provided in the text, though her artistic projects often involve collaborative frameworks. She is actively engaged in public art installations and institutional critique.
