Jessica Jackson Hutchins

Jessica Jackson Hutchins (b. 1971) is an Assistant Professor at the Painting and Drawing department of the College of Art and Design, SAIC. Her expressive studio practice merges sculptural installations, collages, paintings, and large-scale ceramics, often transforming everyday household objects into emotionally charged works that explore the intersection of art and life.

• Education: MFA from School of the Art Institute of Chicago (1999), BA in Art History from Oberlin College (1994)

Research & Practice: Hutchins’s work interrogates materiality through hybrid forms, blending domestic items with artistic media to create intimate dialogues between artist, artwork, and viewer. Her exhibitions include solo shows at the Frye Art Museum (2024) and Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum (2014), and group appearances at the Venice Biennale (2013) and Whitney Biennial (2010).
