Dr. Sharon Carstairs is a part-time Lecturer (Teaching and Research) at the School of Health Sciences, University of Dundee, where she has been employed since October 2022. She holds a BSc (Hons) in Physiology Sports Science and Nutrition from the University of Glasgow and completed her PhD at the University of Aberdeen, focusing on the 'Determinants of seafood inclusion in pre-school age children'. Her academic career began as a Teaching Fellow at the University of Abertay Dundee.
Her research specializes in childhood nutrition and feeding practices, with particular expertise in:
- Early years feeding and introduction of solid foods
- Parental influences on child eating behaviors
- Health promotion and behavior change interventions
- Social prescribing models for physical activity
- Community-based health initiatives
- Mixed-methods research approaches
