Sharon Bzostek is an Associate Professor of Sociology and Senior Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education at the School of Arts and Sciences, Rutgers University. She holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from Princeton University (2009). Her research focuses on social demography, particularly family structure changes, child/family well-being, and health disparities. She previously served as a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard University's Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Scholars Program.
Her current research projects include mothers' re-partnering after non-marital births, survey responses to self-rated health, parent-child report discrepancies about children's lives, and health insurance coverage effects on children's healthcare access. Her work appears in journals like Demography, Social Forces, and Health Affairs.
Bzostek's academic affiliations include the Health, Population, and Biomedicine program and the Gender, Sexuality, and Embodiment initiative. She has contributed to policy-relevant studies on healthcare access for immigrant families and mixed health insurance coverage in households.
