Arun S. Hendi is an Assistant Professor of Sociology and Public Affairs at Princeton University, with joint affiliations in the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs and the Office of Population Research. His work bridges sociology, demography, and public policy, focusing on socioeconomic and racial inequalities in health outcomes, marital trends, and urban-rural population dynamics.
He holds a Ph.D. in Demography and Sociology (2015) and an A.M. in Economics (2010), both from the University of Pennsylvania. His research includes analyzing improvements in Black life expectancy in the U.S. and the health impacts of migration between urban, suburban, and rural areas. His projects have been supported by grants from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the National Institute on Aging.
His interdisciplinary approach integrates demographic methods with social science theory to address systemic inequalities, particularly in health and urban development.
