Research spans demographic methodology, racial health disparities, and geospatial population dynamics. Key investigations include socioeconomic and racial inequalities in life expectancy, evolving marriage/divorce patterns, assortative mating trends, and urban-rural migration impacts on health outcomes. Current projects analyze the drivers behind improved Black life expectancy in the U.S. over the past 25 years and how residential mobility between urban, suburban, and rural areas affects well-being.
Research funding includes grants from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the National Institute on Aging.
As an affiliate of Princeton's Office of Population Research, he contributes to one of the nation's premier demographic research centers, collaborating on studies like the immigration-life expectancy nexus highlighted in Princeton/USC joint research.
