Sharon B. Press

Sharon B. Press is a Professor of Law and holds the Robins Kaplan Distinguished Professorship of Litigation Skills and International Dispute Resolution at Mitchell Hamline School of Law. She serves as Director of the Dispute Resolution Institute and has been affiliated with the institution since 2009. Her roles include teaching Mediation, Negotiation, and leading the Mediation Clinic. She directs the Israel Study Abroad Program: Conflict Resolution from Religious Traditions and advises students pursuing a Certificate in Conflict Resolution Theory and Practice. Press is actively involved in professional leadership, serving as Co-President of Community Mediation Minnesota, a board member of Community Mediation and Restorative Services, and the Institute for the Study of Conflict Transformation.

Her research and practice focus on dispute resolution mechanisms, mediation, negotiation, and conflict resolution theory. She has mediated in Housing and Harassment Courts and for the Minnesota Department of Human Rights. Press is a Minnesota Rule 114 qualified facilitative/hybrid neutral and a Florida Supreme Court certified county and family mediator, with over 250 presentations on ADR globally.

Press oversees the Mediation Representation Team and has led ADR programs within the Florida state court system. Her professional service includes past roles as Chair of the Minnesota State Bar Association ADR Section Council and membership on the Minnesota ADR Ethics Board.
