Sharmin S Khan is a Lecturer in the Department of Linguistics & Language Development at San José State University (SJSU). She served as a Senator in the Academic Senate from 2015 to 2021. Her academic background includes a Ph.D. in Education with a focus on Language & Literacy from UC Berkeley (1994) and an M.A. in Applied Linguistics from the University of Southern California (1986).
Her research and teaching interests center on linguistics, language development, and multilingual education. She has contributed to academic governance through her Senate role, advocating for institutional policies.
