Dr. Sharifa Al-Qaaydeh is an Associate Professor (Clinical) at the University of Utah College of Nursing, where she has been serving since 2008. She currently holds the position of Prelicensure Track Director and teaches a wide range of courses from prerequisite classes to graduate-level programs, specializing in the Clinical Management series that integrates pathophysiology, medical-surgical nursing, pharmacology, and human response to illness.
Dr. Al-Qaaydeh's educational background includes:
- BS in Nursing from the University of Utah (2003)
- MS in Teaching Nursing from the University of Utah (2008)
- PhD in Nursing from the University of Utah (2019)
Her research focuses on pediatric oncology symptom management and nursing education challenges. With expertise in pediatrics, child development, simulation, and clinical instruction, Dr. Al-Qaaydeh has developed assessment tools to evaluate nursing students' comfort in clinical settings and investigated symptom characteristics in hospitalized children with cancer. Her work emphasizes patient-centered care approaches and improving clinical education for nursing students.
Dr. Al-Qaaydeh's publications demonstrate a consistent focus on symptom assessment in pediatric oncology patients and nursing education challenges. Her research has explored the multidimensional nature of symptoms in hospitalized children with cancer, the relationship between nursing certification and pain management, and tools to assess nursing student anxiety in pediatric clinical settings.
Dr. Al-Qaaydeh has received numerous awards and recognitions for her work:

Dr. Al-Qaaydeh serves as the Prelicensure Track Director and has been actively involved in mentoring nursing students and developing curricula that prepare future nurses for high-quality patient care. She has also served on committees for Sigma Theta Tau, including the Leadership Succession Board (2013-2016). Fluent in both Arabic and English, she brings cultural competence to her academic and clinical work, with professional certifications including Basic Life Support and Registered Nurse licensure in Utah.
