Shari Stathis

Shari Stathis is a Research Fellow at Macquarie University Centre for the Health Economy (MUCHE), specializing in health technology assessment (HTA) for pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and diagnostics. Her work focuses on evaluating Australian healthcare submissions to the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee (PBAC) and Medical Services Advisory Committee (MSAC).

Her research interests center on health technology assessment methodologies, including systematic reviews, meta-analyses of clinical evidence, and cost-effectiveness modeling. She actively engages with payers, clinicians, and patient groups to incorporate stakeholder perspectives into HTA frameworks. Her work spans Alzheimer's disease epidemiology, digital health interventions, and biomedical regulatory frameworks across Australian healthcare systems.

Stathis has led significant projects including the External Evaluation of PBAC submissions (2023-present), the Australian Healthcare System Regulatory Frameworks study (2023), and the Natural Therapies Review for Naturopathy (2021-2025). She serves as a reviewer for International Journal of Technology Assessment in Health Care, HTAi, and ISPOR conferences.
