Shaowen Hua is an Associate Professor in the College of Business. Her research focuses on capital markets and financial accounting. She holds a Ph.D. in Accounting from Drexel University, Philadelphia. Prior to her doctoral studies, she worked in the rebate department of a pharmaceutical company in Delaware and as a marketing specialist for a bank's credit card department in Taiwan.
Her research interests span capital markets, financial accounting, and corporate governance. She explores topics such as audit fees, internal control deficiencies, and the impact of CEO characteristics on organizational practices. Her work also addresses auditing standards and regulatory compliance within corporate environments.
Recent publications include analyses of audit fee dynamics during the 2008 financial crisis, CEO age effects on internal control persistence, and pharmaceutical firm efficiency through book-to-market ratios. She has also investigated audit committee member workload effects on corporate governance.
