Shantel Blakely is an Assistant Professor at Rice University, specializing in architectural history and design. Her research focuses on underrepresented architects and their socio-cultural impacts, including studies on Marco Zanuso and Charles E. Fleming. She previously held roles at Columbia University, Washington University in St. Louis, and Harvard Graduate School of Design. Blakely has been recognized with the Richard Rogers Fellowship (2017) and grants from the Getty Research Institute and Graham Foundation. Her work bridges technical, aesthetic, and cultural dimensions of architecture.

Professional Roles: Currently teaches ARCH 101, ARCH 345/645, and ARCH 655 at Rice. Previously managed public programs at Harvard GSD, organizing lectures and exhibitions like Happening Now: Historiography in the Making. Serves on Houston’s Historical and Archaeological Commission until 2025.
