Shannon Wells is a Master Lecturer and Assistant Chair at Old Dominion University within the College of Sciences and the Department of Oceanography. She earned her Ph.D. in Oceanography from Old Dominion University in 2009.
Research Interests: Focused on Oceanography and Invertebrate Physiology, her work examines reproductive behaviors and physiological adaptations in decapod crustaceans, particularly blue crabs (Callinectes sapidus) in the Chesapeake Bay. Her research spans reproductive output, multiple mating, and sperm allocation in exploited crustacean populations.
Publication Trends: Her publications (2006–2017) emphasize marine ecology, reproductive biology, and fisheries science, with recurring themes in decapod crustacean mating systems, environmental impacts on fecundity, and population dynamics.
