Shanhe Jiang is a Professor in the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Wayne State University, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. His research focuses on corrections, comparative criminology, semiformal control systems, and spatial criminology. He holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University at Albany, SUNY, an M.A. from Nankai University, and a B.A. in Philosophy from Wuhan University.
His work has been recognized with awards including the 2015 Asian Criminological Society Best Paper Award, the 2011 University of Toledo Outstanding Researcher Award, and multiple grants such as the $667,467 Smart Policing Initiative grant (2015-2017). His recent publications analyze topics like trinary control systems in rural China, CCTV effects in Detroit, and pandemic impacts on crime patterns.
