Shana McCrumb is an Associate Professor of Biology Instruction at Hope College. She teaches introductory biology labs and courses focused on Organisms and Environments for elementary education majors. Her professional background includes a career in organic chemistry within environmental laboratories, where she developed strong lab skills. She previously served as the associate director of ExploreHope Academic Outreach, overseeing STEM outreach programs including field trips, workshops, and summer camps. Her expertise centers on curriculum development and understanding student educational needs. Shana is passionate about science education and outdoor activities, often combining both in her professional and personal life.
Her work with ExploreHope emphasized accreditation management, staff mentorship, and program development for diverse audiences. She values hands-on science engagement and has contributed to the American Camp Association-accredited Summer Camp program for nine years. Beyond academia, she enjoys camping, hiking, mountain biking, and sharing her enthusiasm for science and nature.
