Shana Kushner Gadarian is an Associate Professor of Political Science at the Maxwell School, Syracuse University. Her research focuses on the intersection of anxiety, democratic citizenship, and policy issues such as immigration, public health, terrorism, and climate change.
Her work explores how mass publics react to economic, health, and political threats, including the effects of anxiety on information-seeking, trust in government, and societal resilience. She collaborates with international scholars across Norway, Finland, Spain, and other OECD countries to study terrorism's impact on social capital and public opinion.
