Dr Shamsul Karim is a Senior Lecturer in Entrepreneurship at the Essex Business School, University of Essex, where he has worked since 2017. His research focuses on resource-based theory, digital entrepreneurship, and gender dynamics in business, particularly in emerging economies.
- PhD in Entrepreneurship from Aston University (2013)
His research explores how ICT infrastructure, social norms, and leadership practices influence entrepreneurial outcomes. He has supervised numerous PhD students, including studies on family businesses, women’s entrepreneurship, and circular economy models.
Recent publications analyze brand-patent synergies, responsible leadership in SMEs, and ICT’s impact on firm performance. He has also contributed to policy reports like the GEM Bangladesh Monitoring Report and conducted funded research on women’s enterprise via the European Commission (2022).
