Shamika Almeida is an Associate Professor in the School of Business and Associate Dean (Equity, Diversity and Inclusion) at the University of Wollongong's Faculty of Business and Law. Prior to academia, she spent over a decade in corporate roles across sectors like FMCG, banking, and recruitment. She holds a PhD from the University of Sydney, focusing on real-world workplace challenges. Her research emphasizes care-based leadership to foster inclusive environments, addressing topics such as skilled migrant employment, gender inclusion, and healthcare professional wellbeing.
Education: PhD in Management (University of Sydney), extensive corporate experience across multiple industries.
Research Focus: Examines mechanisms for creating inclusive societies through organizational practices. Key areas include migrant workforce integration, gender equity in leadership, and wellbeing initiatives for healthcare professionals. Collaborates with NGOs to design care-oriented programs for marginalized groups.
