Shalini Kesar is an Associate Professor of Information Systems at Southern Utah University (SUU), where she has been since 2007. With over 15 years of teaching experience, she has taught at five universities globally, including Liverpool John Moores University and the University of South Florida. Her expertise spans electronic commerce, gender equality in computing, and cybersecurity.
Education: She holds a doctorate in Cybersecurity and two master’s degrees from UK institutions (University of Salford, London School of Economics, and DeMontfort University).
Research & Initiatives: Kesar leads SUU’s chapter of the National Center for Women in Information Technology’s Aspirations in Computing, a national initiative empowering young women in STEM. She also contributes to SUU’s Master of Science in Cyber Security and Information Assurance program. Her teaching focuses on courses like Data Communications, Information Security, and IT Policy Compliance.
Awards: In 2016, she received the Women Tech Council’s Education Excellence Award for her leadership in STEM education and diversity advocacy.
Labs/Teams: Her work includes fostering rural communities’ engagement with women in technology through SUU-led programs. She emphasizes bridging academia and industry by integrating real-world projects into her teaching.
