Shaked Spier is a Ph.D. candidate in Ethics and Technology at the Department of Philosophy, University of Twente, and a Research Fellow at the Institute for the Cooperative Digital Economy, The New School. They are also affiliated with the 4TU.Centre for Ethics and Technology.
Their research focuses on the ethical and political aspects of digital technologies and AI, particularly in the platform and sharing economy. They investigate how social media influences collective action, social movements, and democratic models like platform cooperatives. Key areas include disclosive computer ethics, critical theory, and interdisciplinary analysis of digital labor, information politics, and platform governance.
Their publications since 2011 cover topics such as the political significance of digital platforms, resistance to platform capitalism, and the methodological contributions to ethics of technology. Notable works include analyses of Airbnb, platform cooperatives, and the role of algorithms in collective action.
