Nofar Sheffi is a Senior Lecturer at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), specifically within the School of Global & Public Law. She holds a unique interdisciplinary background with degrees spanning Law (LLB/BA from Tel Aviv University), German Studies (MA from Hebrew University), Legal Theory (LLM from New York University), and a PhD from Sciences Po, Paris.
Her research focuses on the intersection of contract theory, critical theory, and media theory, examining how technologies of government operate within digital ecosystems. Key areas include the governance of computer systems, the constitution of online domains, and the internal dynamics of platforms like Airbnb. She explores how these platforms create novel forms of jurisdiction and legal frameworks through their operational logics.
Her publications since 2011 demonstrate a consistent focus on digital platforms' legal architectures, with recent work emphasizing constitutional aspects of online systems (2024) and debates over property rights in the sharing economy (2021). Earlier research (2019-2020) analyzed platform governance through case studies like Airbnb, while her earliest work (2011) touched on urban planning and legal spatial frameworks.
Teaching responsibilities include Contracts (LAWS1075/JURD7175), Global Common Law Systems (LAWS8214), and Legal Experimentalism (LAWS2384). No specific grants or awards are listed, though her prolific publishing record indicates active scholarly engagement.
