Shahab Saqib is a Visiting Lecturer at the School of Law, Gender and Media, SOAS University of London, and a PhD scholar at King's College London. His research critically examines discrimination frameworks in international human rights law and Islamic law through a third-world, global South perspective. He previously held the Harney Fellowship in Ethnic, Immigration & Pluralism Studies at the University of Toronto (2021-2022). As a practising attorney in Lahore's Higher Courts, he advises on IHRL and Islamic law disputes.
His research interests focus on non-citizen marginalization, legal dissimulations enabling discrimination, and interdisciplinary approaches merging religion, philosophy, and politics with law. He teaches law at SOAS, King's College London, and Oxford Summer Courses, emphasizing critical legal analysis.
Key publications address racial discrimination in citizenship frameworks, classism in international law, blasphemy case jurisprudence, and judicial reform. His awards include HEA Associate Fellowship and the Harney Fellowship. His legal practice and academic work intertwine to advocate for marginalized groups through IHRL and Islamic legal frameworks.
