Shafiqa Ahmadi

Shafiqa Ahmadi is an Associate Professor of Clinical Education at the Rossier School of Education, University of Southern California, and Co-Director of the Center for Education, Identity and Social Justice. Her work focuses on diversity, legal protection for underrepresented students (including female Muslims, bias/hate crime victims, and sexual assault survivors), and higher education law.

Education:

• Doctor of Jurisprudence (JD) from Indiana University School of Law, Bloomington, Indiana
• Graduated with Dean’s Honors
• Focus: Employment Law, Corporate International Law, Middle Eastern Languages and Cultures, Islamic Law (Shari'a)

Research Trends: Analyzes intersections of legal systems and higher education, particularly regarding Muslim women's experiences, post-9/11 civil rights erosion, and gender equity in conflict zones.

Professional Experience: Formerly at Gould School of Law (USC), Center for Urban Education (USC), and Hawaii Civil Rights Commission. Led a Department of Education (DOE) grant to combat campus sexual assault.
