Shadi Balawi is Instructional Associate Professor in the J. Mike Walker Department of Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University. His research spans engineering mechanics and STEM education pedagogy.
Education: Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering (University of Cincinnati, 2007), M.S. Aerospace Engineering (Cincinnati, 1999), M.S. Mechanical Engineering (Jordan University, 1997), B.S. Mechanical Engineering (Jordan University, 1994)
Research: Focuses on honeycomb structures, metallic sandwich panels, experimental mechanics, and STEM education innovations. Develops experiential learning modules for materials science and teamwork skill development across engineering curricula.
Educational Leadership: Designs vertical integration strategies for teamwork skills, conflict management workshops, and ethics integration in mechanical engineering programs. Creates cost-effective teaching apparatus for materials testing concepts.
Awards: Mechanical Engineering IAC Outstanding Faculty Contribution Award (2020), Khalifa University Faculty Excellence Award (2012)
