Seyum Getenet

Seyum Getenet is an Associate Professor in the School of Education at the University of Southern Queensland (USQ), specializing in Mathematics Curriculum and Pedagogy. His research focuses on STEM education, teacher professional development, and technology integration in teaching. He holds a PhD from the University of Tasmania, along with a Master of Science from Twente University and a Master of Arts from Addis Ababa University.

Research interests include mathematics pedagogical content knowledge, teachers’ use of technology (TPACK framework), and design-based research in teacher education. He supervises doctoral students in areas like mathematics education, teacher training, and technology-enhanced learning.

Teaching responsibilities include courses such as Mathematics in Context (EPM 4100) and Mathematics Curriculum and Pedagogy (EDM5005/EDM8005). He is affiliated with the Institute for Resilient Regions (IRR) and contributes to professional organizations like MERGA and PME.

Recent publications emphasize technology’s role in student engagement, AI applications in education, and numeracy assessment. His work analyzes NAPLAN data, pre-service teacher competencies, and spatial skills in mathematics education.
