Dr. Sevinç Türkkan is an Associate Teaching Professor in the Department of Writing Studies, Rhetoric, and Composition at Syracuse University's College of Arts and Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from the University of Illinois-Urbana and previously taught at Oberlin College, Binghamton University, and the University of Rochester.
Her research explores intersections of rhetoric, translation, and multilingualism, with focus areas including:
- Rhetorical approaches to multimodal translation
- Transnational literacy practices
- Community-engaged pedagogy
- Cross-cultural communication theories
Publications demonstrate consistent focus on Turkish literature and translation politics, with recent work examining political dissent and linguistic hybridity. She received Humanities Center grants for community translation projects (2023-2026) and serves on Syracuse University Press's editorial board.
