Dr. Sevinç Bermek is a Lecturer in International Political Economy at the Department of European & International Studies, School of Politics & Economics. She holds a PhD from the University of Warwick. Her research focuses on public policies in authoritarian regimes, with a regional emphasis on Russia and Turkey. Current projects include studies on intimate partner violence and gender dynamics in Turkey, exploring social norms and informal prevention mechanisms. She also investigates political Islam in Europe and the historical legacies of the Ottoman era on governance and political participation.
Teaching includes courses on global financial centers, the Middle East in global political economy, and foundational theories of International Political Economy. She contributes to the European Politics and Society Research Group, which examines evolving European identities and relationships.
