He holds a Ph.D. from MIT, an M.A. from The American University, and a B.A. in Physics from UC Berkeley. He teaches courses on Eastern European politics, quantitative methods, and authoritarianism. His awards reflect contributions to understanding historical-political linkages and methodologies in political science.
