Sevda Yerdelen Damar is an Associate Professor in the Physics Education department at Boğaziçi University, focusing on metacognition, epistemic cognition, and STEM identity in physics education. She holds a PhD in Secondary Science and Mathematics Education from Middle East Technical University (2013) and a combined Bachelor's/Master's in Physics Education from Gazi University (2004).
Research Interests: Her work explores how metacognitive strategies and epistemic cognition influence student engagement, self-efficacy, and STEM career aspirations. She investigates the interplay between pedagogical interventions and students' epistemological beliefs, particularly in high-stakes testing environments.
Scientific Awards: She received the Outstanding Achievement in Teaching Award from Boğaziçi University in 2020. Her research has been featured in Physical Review Physics Education Research as an Editors' Recommendation (2016).
Scientific Affiliations: She is a member of the Science Education and Research Association (FEAD), the National Association for Research in Science Teaching (NARST), the American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT), and the National Science Teaching Association (2017-2020).
