Servet ALTAY is an Associate Professor of Cardiology at Trakya University School of Medicine, Department of Cardiology. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree and completed post-doctoral studies in 2013. He was appointed Assistant Professor in 2015 and promoted to Associate Professor in 2017. His clinical work includes positions at Edirne State Hospital as a Cardiologist and at Dr. Siyami Ersek Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery Center as a Specialist and Resident doctor.
Dr. ALTAY's research focuses on several key areas of cardiology including coronary artery disease, cardiac device implantation, Takotsubo syndrome, atrial fibrillation, heart failure, and the relationship between sleep disorders and cardiovascular disease. His work often bridges clinical practice with research, particularly in understanding risk factors, treatment strategies, and outcomes for various cardiac conditions. He has made significant contributions to understanding the role of nutritional indices in acute coronary syndrome, the management of anticoagulation in atrial fibrillation, and the pathophysiology of MINOCA (Myocardial Infarction with Non-Obstructive Coronary Arteries).
His recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on translational research with clinical applications, particularly in the areas of Takotsubo syndrome (where he co-authored an international expert consensus report), obstructive sleep apnea and cardiovascular disease, and real-world data on anticoagulation in atrial fibrillation. His work often involves multi-center collaborations and addresses practical challenges in cardiology practice.
Dr. ALTAY serves as an active contributor to the academic community, including editorial work as evidenced by his publication 'Keeping the Journal in the Second Quarter: What Are We Doing and What Will We Do?' in the Balkan Medical Journal.
