Sergiy Kryatov is a Distinguished Senior Lecturer in the Department of Chemistry at Tufts University. He holds a PhD from the L.V.Pisarzhevskii Institute of Physical Chemistry (1997) and a BS/MS from Kiev State University (1991). His research focuses on inorganic chemistry, particularly the kinetics and mechanisms of oxygen and hydrogen peroxide activation by metal complexes. Key interests include non-heme iron systems, diiron complexes, and catalytic processes involving metalloenzyme models.
Teaching responsibilities include courses such as General Chemistry II with Lab and Advanced Inorganic Chemistry. He has been affiliated with Tufts since 2005, progressing from Lecturer to Senior Lecturer and later Distinguished Senior Lecturer. His work spans over three decades, with significant contributions to understanding reaction mechanisms in bioinorganic systems and catalytic activation processes.
Research highlights include studies on manganese(II) complexes for alkene epoxidation, iron(IV) oxo complex reactivity, and diiron hydroxo models. His publications emphasize kinetic analysis of intermediates and ligand effects on reactivity, with applications to both synthetic and bioinspired systems.
