Sergiy Dmytriyev

Sergiy Dmytriyev is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Management and MBA Program at James Madison University's College of Business. He holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration from the University of Virginia's Darden School of Business, an MBA from IESE Business School, and dual master's degrees in Economics and Management from Michigan State University and Vinnytsia National Technical University. His research focuses on Stakeholder Theory, Social Issues in Management, Supererogation in Organizations, and Management Consulting.

Dr. Dmytriyev's work bridges theoretical frameworks and practical applications, emphasizing multi-stakeholder engagement, ethical leadership, and CSR. His notable contributions include analyzing the relationship between stakeholder theory and corporate social responsibility, as well as exploring supererogation's role in organizational morality. He serves as the Integrity Editor for the Journal of Business Ethics and actively contributes to academic societies through editorial roles and conference engagements.

His awards include the 2024 Provost Award for Excellence in Research and multiple Basic or Discovery Publication Awards from JMU. Beyond academia, he advises local and international businesses and non-profits through management consulting projects, leveraging his industry experience from roles at Monsanto, Bain & Company, and Procter & Gamble.

Dr. Dmytriyev also leads the Management Consulting concentration at JMU, advises student organizations like Sigma Iota Epsilon, and serves on the board of the Virginia Gators of Harrisonburg. His research spans ethics, sustainability, and stakeholder-centric strategies, with a focus on integrating humanities perspectives into business education.
