Professor Sergey Tyulenev is a faculty member at Durham University, affiliated with the School of Modern Languages and Cultures. He holds two PhDs: one in Linguistics (2000, Moscow State University) and another in Translation Studies (2009, University of Ottawa).
Research Focus: His work centers on Translation Studies, particularly the Sociology of Translation, Social Systems Theory (Luhmann, Bourdieu, Habermas), and Gender/Sexuality in Translation. He has published extensively on Russian translation history, including the role of women translators and translation as a driver of societal modernization.
