Sergey Suchalkin is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Stony Brook University, part of the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences. His research focuses on optoelectronic devices, infrared spectroscopy, and semiconductor physics, particularly in metamorphic InAsSb/InSb systems. He has contributed extensively to quantum well technologies, bandgap engineering, and topological materials.
His work includes advancements in electrically tunable semiconductor lasers, optoelectronic modulators, and novel materials for mid- and long-wave infrared applications. Research highlights span from 2017 to 2025, emphasizing innovations in heterostructure design, doping mechanisms, and quantum phenomena.
Suchalkin’s affiliations include core faculty roles in the ECE department, with active participation in collaborative grants and interdisciplinary projects.
