Serene Khader is the Jay Newman Chair in Philosophy of Culture at Brooklyn College and holds a Professorship in Philosophy and Women's and Gender Studies at the CUNY Graduate Center. Her research focuses on political philosophy, feminist theory, and postcolonial ethics, with emphasis on global justice and transnational solidarity. She critiques 'white feminism' and advocates for decolonial approaches to feminist praxis.
Education: PhD from Stony Brook University and BA from the University of Oregon. Her work bridges philosophy, gender studies, and development ethics, challenging colonial legacies and advocating for inclusive feminist frameworks.
Recent publications include Faux Feminism: Why We Fall for White Feminism and How We Can Stop (2024) and Decolonizing Universalism: A Transnational Feminist Ethic (2018). Her research analyzes microcredit, household labor, and surrogacy through ethical and intersectional lenses.
