Serena Trucchi is a Senior Lecturer in Economics at Cardiff Business School, Cardiff University. She has held academic positions at Ca' Foscari University of Venice, University College London (as a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellow), and the University of Bologna.

Her research focuses on household finance, labour supply, ageing, and financial literacy. She has published extensively in leading journals, with work on income expectations, precautionary savings, and wealth shocks. Her recent publications (2024) include working papers on alcohol consumption in empty nests and income expectations.
She teaches BS2558 - Economics of the European Union, BS3570 - Applied Macroeconomics and Finance, and BST281 - Micro-Econometric Practice. Her supervision includes PhD student Aohan Gao.
