Serena Pollastri is a Lecturer in Urban Futures at Lancaster University's Lancaster Institute for the Contemporary Arts (LICA), part of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS). Her work focuses on visualizing coastal and urban futures through interdisciplinary collaboration, combining environmental science with community engagement. She advises PhD student Juan Montalvan Lume.
Key research projects include the Morecambe Bay Timescapes initiative (2021-2022), Biodiversity Logbooks (2020-2021), and the E3 series of projects addressing aqueous futures and participatory sensing. She has organized public events like TEA Talks and the Being Human festival, emphasizing design-based approaches to urban challenges.
Her academic contributions bridge art, architecture, and environmental studies, with a focus on making complex ecological data accessible through creative methods. Current affiliations include the School of Architecture, Space & Place, and the 'More than Human' research group.
