معرفی
Professor Serafim Bakalis is an Honorary Professor in Structured Products and a University Academic Fellow at the University of Birmingham’s School of Chemical Engineering since 2005. His research focuses on microstructure control, formulation of consumer products, and advanced techniques like Positron Emission Particle Tracking (PEPT). He holds a PhD in Food Engineering from Rutgers University (1999), an MSc from the same institution (1996), and a BSc in Chemical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (1994).
Research interests include thermal process analysis using time-temperature integrators, X-ray microCT for porous structure studies, and sensory responses via electroencephalography. He leads an EPSRC/DTI-funded project on low-salt product development. Professional memberships include IChemE, IFT, and the Greek Chamber of Engineers.
Key contributions span multiphase flow studies, particle tracking algorithms, and food engineering innovations. His work bridges academic research with industry collaboration, emphasizing both teaching and administrative roles within the School.
